SOLD APRIL 2023 – Valuable C. 49 Acre Holding With Derelict Farmhouse And Outbuildings For Sale by Online Auction On Tuesday The 18th April At 2pm
Today’s auction of almost 50 acres with a derelict farmhouse and outbuildings had attracted “substantial local interest” since its launch according to auctioneer David Quinn. David guided the property between €6,000 and €7,000 per acre in advance of auction. He added that he had received a “strong volume of enquiries” in the weeks prior to the auction which “translated into almost ten registered bidders”.
On the day of the auction, bidding opened at €250,000 before quickly moving past the €300,000 and then then €400,000 mark . After reaching €440,000 a break was called to take client instructions. Upon his return to the auction room, David Quinn declared the property “on the market” and invited further bids. Following this, the pace of bidding increased and €500,000 was surpassed in no time. With two bidders still active, bidding continued at a steady pace with the hammer eventually falling at €630,000, a phenomenal result.
Speaking after the auction, David expressed his delight with the result. David noted that the “price achieved equates to almost €13,000, well above the guide price of €6,000 – €7,000 per acre”. David added that “it was particularly pleasing that bidding continued for almost €200,000 past the point after which the property was put on the market”. “This points to the strength of demand for such holdings” he stated. The purchaser was described as a farmer from the North Wexford / South Wicklow area.
