Today’s auction saw a fantastic roadside holding come to the market. The property is laid out in one division, currently in grass. The land is of excellent grazing quality and has a mature boundary surrounding it. As the land has good road frontage onto the public road, it may have site potential for a residential dwelling, subject to the appropriate planning permission being obtained.
Auctioneer David Quinn noted “significant interest in the property, particularly from locals”. There were more than five registered bidders. Mr Quinn had guided the property between €10,000 and €12,000 per acre.
On the day of the auction bidding started at €130,000 and moved quickly to €220,000 at which point it was declared on the market. Three further bidders drove the price past €250,000 and the hammer fell at €265,000 to a local dairy farmer.
