SOLD DECEMBER 2023 – Valuable C. 16 Acre Holding (In Two Lots) For Sale by Online Auction On Friday 1st December 2023 At 12 Noon
Today’s auction saw a valuable c. 16 acre holding equidistance from Kiltegan, Co. Wicklow and Hackestown, Co. Carlow come to the market. The property is divided into two distinct lots.
Lot 1: C.11.7 Acres
The lands are located along a minor road (R702), just 0.5km off the R747, the main Hackestown/Kiltegan road and are currently in grass. The land has the benefit of good road frontage and also has a natural water supply.
Lot 2: C. 4.4 Acres
The lands are located along the R747, Hacketstown/Kiltegan Road. Currently in grass, the land also has good road frontage and a natural water supply.
Auctioneer David Quinn guided the property between €10,000 and €12,000 per acre and described strong interest in the property. “I had plenty of enquiries about this property, particularly as the auction date approached”. David said there were “almost ten register bidders” prior to the auction.
On the day of the auction, Lot 1 was bid up to €130,000 after the first round but bidding really picked up after a short break to take client instructions. With three active bidders, Lot 1 climbed to €160,000 at which point it was declared “on the market”. With no further bids, the hammer fell at €160,000 (€13,675 per acre).
Lot 2 reached €80,000 after the opening round of bidding and with no further bids it was sold under the hammer at this price (€18,180 per acre).
Speaking after the auction, Mr Quinn remarked that he was “extremely pleased with the result which equates to €15,000 per acre across the entire holding”.
