SOLD DECEMBER 2023 – Valuable C. 33 Acre Holding In One or More Lots For Sale By Online Auction On Wednesday 20th December at 12 Noon
Today’s auction saw a c. 33 acre holding come to the market located within 3km of Aughrim.
The lands have good frontage onto a cul-de-sac road and are laid out in four divisions and are of excellent quality. All are currently in tillage with free draining soils and suited both to tillage or grassland use. The lands were guided between €8,000 – €10,000 per acre and offered in the following lots:
Lot 1: C. 13.2 Acres
Lot 2: C. 20.2 Acres
Lot 3: The Entire
Ahead of the auction, auctioneer David Quinn described “steady interest, mainly from local farmers”. He added that “four parties had registered to bid” in advance of the auction.
On the day of the auction Lot 1 reached €130,000 after early bidding while Lot 2 reached €170,000. However, with a bid of €310,000 (c. €9,400 per acre) on the entire (Lot 3), the two subdivisions were withdrawn and further bids were sought for the entire.
With the entire a little short of its reserve, the property was withdrawn and negotiations commenced with the highest bidder.
Shortly afterwards, Mr Quinn was in a position to confirm that these negotiations “were fruitful” and both parties agreed on a higher figure. David said that he was “very happy to have finished the year with another successful auction” and added that “with lots of instructions already in for farm sales in the New Year it promises to be a busy start to 2024”. The successful bidder was described as a “local farmer”.
