Sold March 2019 – Superb C. 246 Acre Residential Farm For Sale By Public Auction On The 20th March 2019 At 2pm In Mount Wolseley Hotel, Tullow, Co. Carlow (In One Or More Lots).
Today’s auction was one of the most anticipated in years as it is rare that a property of this size and quality comes to the market. Unsurprisingly, Clonogan House had attracted high levels of interest from both locals and those from further afield.
Prior to auction the property had been guided between €2.3 – €2.5 million. On the day, there was an attendance of over 100 people with the property offered in the following lots:
“A” Lot 1: C. 104.607 acres
“B1” Lot 2: C. 58.024 acres (with a 1/3 share of C. 23 acres of forestry – “B2”)
“C” Lot 3: C. 58.348 acres and
“D” Lot 4: C. 24.470 acres
The property was initially offered in four separate lots and after the first round bidding was making a total of €2,090,000. Bidding on the entire started at €2.2 million and with two bidders in play, it moved on to €2.4 million. The four separate lots were offered for a second time and moved to €2.2million. However, at this stage the lots were withdrawn from the market. The entire was offered again and, with no further bids, was withdrawn from the market and sold immediately after in excess of €2.5million with the purchaser being a business man and farmer from the south Wicklow area.
