SOLD MAY 2024 – Stunning Georgian Residence Set On C. 65 Acres Of Wonderful Parkland With Coach House, Additional Guest Accommodation & Extensive Range Of Outbuildings For Sale By Online Auction On Friday, 24th May At 12 Noon
Friday’s auction was one of the most high-profile to have taken place in the country this year and has been hotly anticipated since it was first advertised. “The property received extensive coverage across local and national media and our offices fielded a substantial volume of enquiries in the weeks and months leading up to the auction” according to David Quinn, Managing Director of QUINN PROPERTY who handled the sale of ‘St. Austin’s’.
Mr Quinn had guided the property between €1.8m – €2m and described it as “a distinguished 18th-century Irish Country House, set on circa 65 acres of some of the finest quality land in Ireland”.
On the day of the auction, bidding opened at €1.4m and promptly pushed beyond €1.5 and then €1.6m. With bidding at €1.66m and with no further bids forthcoming, the property was withdrawn and negotiations quickly commenced with the highest bidder. The property was sold for a higher sum following fruitful negotiations.
Speaking after the auction, Mr Quinn expressed his delight in securing a “fantastic outcome” for his client, “I am very pleased that we could finalise the deal on the day of the auction”. When asked for details on the buyer, Mr Quinn described them as “an overseas purchaser”. He added that “there was a nice mix of interested parties, with several locals in the mix as well as a good number from the greater Dublin area and abroad”.
He also noted that “such a property typically comes to the market only once in a lifetime and it was a pleasure to be tasked with handling the sale”.
