"Prime South-East Tillage Ground Sells For Close On €20,000 per acre". Irish Independent: Farming Independent. 06/03/18.

Last week’s auction of C. 33 acres at Brideswell, Askamore, Gorey, Co. Wexford featured in yesterday’s edition of the Farming Independent. The article described the land as “mainly in tillage with a small portion in grass”.

Lot 1 has “frontage onto the Carnew – Camolin road” is “suitable for any farming use”. It opened at €150,000 and was brought to €220,000 at which point it was declared ‘on the market’. This led a third bidder to enter and eventually win the race at a price of €300,000 or €18,875 per acre. “It was bought by a solicitor acting in trust”.

Lot 2 is a 17.4 acre holding of similar qualities to that of Lot 1. “It sold for €265,000 to a drystock farmer”.  Following the previous week’s auction at Ballynaboola, New Ross where 57 acres made €1.055m (€18,500 per acre) the article commented on the “good early run in the auction room” which QUINN PROPERTY have enjoyed.
