SOLD MAY 2025 – Valuable C. 33 Acre Roadside Holding For Sale by Online Auction On Friday, 23rd May At 12 Noon In One Or More Lots
Today’s auction saw a combined total of about 33 acres of excellent quality land in County Carlow come for auction. The lands have good road frontage, are all currently in grass and are well-suited for a range of agricultural uses.
Auctioneer David Quinn had guided the property between €12,000 and €15,000 per acre and noted encouraging interest, particularly from the local farming community. There were eight registered bidders prior to the auction.
The lands were offered in the following lots:
Lot 1: C. 6.54 Acres
Lot 2: C. 9.76 Acres
Lot 3: C. 12.6 Acres
Lot 4: C. 4.02 Acres
Lot 5: The Entire
The auction began with the individual lots, which totalled €455,000 after the opening round of bidding. With no bids on the entire, this option was withdrawn and attention returned to lots 1-4.
Lot 3 reached €140,000 after early bidding and was placed on the market upon reaching €175,000 in the second round of bidding. Following two further bids, Lot 3 was sold at €185,000 (€14,700 per acre approx.).
Lot 1 stood at €120,000 after the first round of bidding and following a further bid of €125,000 was put on the market. One additional bid was enough to secure the property at €130,000 (€19,900 per acre approx.).
Lot 2 was at €140,000 after the opening round of bidding and upon its resumption it was placed on the market after the bidding continued as far as €150,000. There were three further bids before the hammer fell at €165,000 (€16,900 per acre approx.).
Lot 4 was the final lot to be sold and it progressed steadily upwards from its opening round top bid of €55,000. With the hammer about to fall at €60,000 a new bidder entered proceedings with a bid of €61,000. With no further bids forthcoming, Lot 4 was sold for €61,000 (€15,200 per acre approx.).
Speaking immediately after the auction, David Quinn remarked his delight with getting all four lots sold under the hammer. “Today’s auction was a tremendous success with excellent prices achieved on all the lots”. He added that “the vendor is very pleased with the outcome”. The total price achieved equates to €541,000 or about €16,400 per acre.
