Friday’s auction saw a well located parcel of land with excellent road frontage come to the market. The land is currently in grass but may be suitable for a number of development uses, subject to planning permission. A feasibility study carried out on the site was made available to all intending purchasers.
Auctioneer David Quinn had guided the property in the region of €140,000 and noted interest from a range of buyer types, “including farmers, businesspeople and developers”. David added that “six parties registered to bid” in advance of the auction.
On the day of the auction, bidding commenced at €80,000 and with four active bidders, bidding quickly reached €190,000. With no further bidding, and the property still short of its reserve the property was withdrawn. However, following swift negotiations, the property was sold for €200,000 immediately after the auction.
According to Mr Quinn, the price equates to “almost €29,000 per acre …. an exceptionally strong result”. He added that his “clients were very pleased with the outcome of the auction”.
