An aerial view of the lands at Knockenree, Avoca, Co. Wicklow sold by QUINN PROPERTY

SOLD FEBRUARY 2026 – Exceptional C. 44 Acre Roadside Holding For Sale By Public and Online Auction On Tuesday 24th February 2026 At 2pm In The Arklow Bay Hotel

Today’s auction drew significant interest which translated into a packed auction room in the Arklow Bay Hotel with fifty people in attendance. Auctioneer David Quinn had guided the property between €12,000 and €15,000 per acre and described “solid interest from the local farming community” since the property was first advertised.

The lands benefit from good road frontage and comprise generally free-draining soils of excellent quality, making them ideally suited to grassland or tillage use. The majority of the holding is currently laid out in grass, with a smaller portion under tillage and 1 acre of forestry. A three-span shed with lean-to and adjoining yard further enhance the appeal of the property.

On the day of the auction, bidding opened at €500,000 and quickly moved to €710,000 with the help of three bidders. Two bidders remained active from this point as the property continued steadily beyond €750,000. Ultimately, the hammer fell at €780,000 to a local farmer.

Speaking immediately after the auction, David Quinn described the outcome as ” a good strong price of over €17,700 per acre”. He added that “there is no shortage of demand for land in this part of County Wicklow”.
