‘Good interest in 33-acre Wicklow farm for pre-Christmas auction’. Irish Examiner. 06/12/23.

Holding in very good condition and currently all in tillage but would suit any use.

Tinakilly, Aughrim, Co. Wicklow

A pre-Christmas auction which might just be the last land auction in the country before Santa arrives takes place online on Wednesday, December 20.

The 33-acre property is in the townland of Tinakilly in Co Wicklow, 3km north of Aughrim, 10km south of Rathdrum and 15km from Arklow.

According to selling agent Jack Quinn, this holding is in very good condition and is currently all in tillage in a part of the country synonymous with the Irish tillage sector. It would suit any use, however, including for grassland.

Gorey-based Quinn Property has had another successful year of auction sales. Even in the last few weeks, the company has concluded the sales of property in and around Wexford, including an 11-acre land parcel near at Oulart near Gorey.

On November 24, it sold for a figure in excess of €14,000 per acre immediately after the auction.

Last Thursday meanwhile, a 16-acre holding at Borkill More, Hacketstown, Co Carlow fetched €15,000 per acre at auction. The grassland parcel was sold in two separate lots (of 11.7 acres and 4.4 acres) and had a pre-sale guide of between €10,000 and €12,000/acre.

This 33-acre holding will also be available in lots (of 13 acres and 20 acres) and the price guide is a modest €8,000 — €10,000 per acre.
