Today’s auction follows quick on the heels of Wednesday’s successful sale of a nearby c. 45 acre holding where land averaged €26,666 per acre. Similar to our recent auction, there was “extremely strong interest” in this property according to auctioneer David Quinn. David added that there was “more than twenty registered bidders on the eve of the auction”.
The holding has extensive road frontage onto a public road, is of excellent quality and currently in tillage. These lands have excellent residential planning potential S.T.P.P.
On the day of the auction, bidding began at €100,000, quickly moving to €250,000. Upon reaching €260,000 Mr Quinn called a short break to take client instructions. Once he returned to the auction room, Mr Quinn declared the property as “on the market and here to be sold”. This prompted rapid bidding between several bidders with pushed the holding past €300,000 in no time. Bidding continued swiftly as far as €380,000 when all involved finally had an opportunity to breathe. Two further bids were enough to secure the property as the hammer fell at €390,000.
Speaking shortly after the auction, David Quinn said that he has “run out of superlatives to describe this week’s auction results but this is surely a record for agricultural land in the South East” with a price of €48,750 achieved. David continued, “today’s outcome is more than triple typical land values in the area highlighting the strength of demand for similar holdings in this area”.
