Today’s auction was highly anticipated with strong interest from a wide range of prospective buyers. Auctioneer Jack Quinn had guided the property at €170,000 and noted enquiries from across the globe, including the US, Germany and the UK. Mr Quinn added that there were upwards of ten registered bidders for the auction.

On the day of the auction bidding opened at €150,000 and progressed rapidly as far as €200,000 with the help of three bidders. Prompt bidding continued past this point with intense competition for the property. Further parties became active bidders as the property reached €240,000.

Following a brief pause to take client instructions, the auctioneer resumed proceedings by informing all parties that the reserve had been reached and that the property was “now on the market and here to be sold”. Two bidders remained in the battle to secure this property and following four further bids, the hammer fell at €248,000 – a marvellous result. The price achieved equates to more than 45% above the guide price.

Speaking immediately after the auction, Jack Quinn described the result as “far exceeding the client’s expectations”. He added that “there is a real depth of demand for similar properties which was made clear throughout the marketing campaign”.
