Today’s auction saw a substantial and superbly located holding come to the market in one of the most anticipated auctions of the year. The holding benefits from a derelict residence and farmyard with enhanced its appeal.
The property was offered for sale in the following Lots:
Lot 1: C. 45.575 Acres With Derelict Residence.
Lot 2: C. 61.112 Acres
Lot 3: The Entire
Auctioneer David Quinn commented that he “fielded enquiries from far and wide from the opening days of advertising” and noted that this “carried through up until the day of the auction”. Mr Quinn guided the entire holding in the region of €1.8m.
On the day of the auction, there were roughly thirty attendees in the auction room as well as several registered bidders online. Bidding commenced with the individual lots which totalled €1.84m after early bidding (€860,000 for Lot 1 and €980,000 for Lot 2). With the Entire (Lot 3) at €1.95m and no further bids on Lots 1 and 2, they were withdrawn and attention returned to the Entire.
Bidding continued in increments of €50,000 with active bidders online and in the room. The auctioneering took a swift break for client instructions with an offer of €2.25m on the table and returned to the auction room informing all that the property had met its reserve and was on the market.

With no further bids forthcoming, the hammer fell at €2.25m to a local dairy farmer (approx. €21,225 per acre). Speaking immediately after the auction, David Quinn described his clients “delight with the result” and added that “the outcome of the auction exceeded all expectations”.
