Today’s auction saw a beautiful country cottage in a charming village location come to the market. The property is within walking distance of all Blackwater has to offer and also benefits from close proximity to the coast.

Harold Young, Senior Negotiator with QUINN PROPERTY fielded “high volumes of enquiries during the marketing period” and stated that “almost twenty parties” viewed the property. Harold had guided the property at €120,000 and had six registered bidders for the auction.

On the day of the auction, bidding commenced at €100,000 and quickly moved as far as €160,000 in increments of €10,000. After reaching €165,000 a break was called to take client instructions and upon the resumption of the auction the property was declared “on the market”. This had the effect of ‘upping the ante’ as four bidders competed to secure the coastal cottage. Ultimately the hammer fell at €182,000 to a local individual.

Speaking after the auction, Mr Young said that he was “thrilled to have secured such a strong result for our client”. He added that “there is currently very strong demand for similar cottages and we encourage anyone seeking advice to talk to us today”.
