Auctioneer David Quinn had guided the property between €150,000 and €200,000 and added that “there was an encouraging amount of interest in the weeks leading up to the auction”. Mr Quinn stated that six parties were registered to bid.
On the day of the auction, bidding commenced at €130,000 and briskly moved as far as €200,000 with activity from three bidders. A fourth bidder then entered the auction bringing the property to €210,000. Following a short break to take client instructions, the property was declared to be “on the market” which prompted a flurry of rapid bidding. Ultimately, the hammer fell at €228,000 (€14,700 per acre), an excellent result.

Speaking directly after the successful auction, Mr Quinn stated that his client was “delighted with the result achieved” and added that the purchaser is a local farming family who had rented the lands for the past fifty-one years.
