Today’s auction was conducted in ‘hybrid form’, with a mix of online and in person bidding. There was a good deal of interest in the property, known as ‘Acre House’ according to auctioneer David Quinn. Mr Quinn pointed out that the holding is an “attractive size for lots of farmers” while he added that “the residence has invited further interest from a broader non-farming cohort”. The property was guided between €15,000 and €20,000 per acre.
The property was offered for sale in the following lots:
Lot 1: C. 4.8 acres
Lot 2: Farmyard and C. 47.5 acres
Lot 3: Residence On C. 0.75 Acres
Lot 4: The Entire, C. 53 Acre Residential Holding
On the day of the auction, combined bidding on the individual lots (lots 1-3) peaked at €995,000. With further bids on the entire (lot 4) continuing to €1.12m and no further bids forthcoming for the individual lots, lots 1-3 were withdrawn and the entire (lot 4) was placed on the market.
Bidding continued between two parties with the hammer ultimately falling at €1.2m, a phenomenal result. The price achieved equates to over €22,500 per acre.
Speaking immediately after the auction, David Quinn said “there were eight bidders in total for today’s auction which helped us achieve an excellent result for our clients”. He added that “there is a great depth of demand for land in County Wexford”.
