’18th century Georgian property in north Wexford sells to overseas buyer for nearly €2million’. Gorey Guardian. 02/06/24

St Austin’s in Coolgreany, Gorey, Co Wexford sold for more than €1.66 million at auction recently.

The auction of St Austin’s, a Georgian residence set on 65 acres of parkland in north Wexford took place on Friday, May 24 and sold for over €1.66million after negotiations.

The 18th century county house in Coolgreany, Gorey was presented by QUINN PROPERTY and had a guiding price between €1.8million and €2million.

On the day of the auction, bidding opened at €1.4million and quickly surpassed €1.5million and €1.6million.

With no further bids after €1.66million, the property was withdrawn and negotiations ensued with the highest bidder. The property was successfully sold at a higher price following negotiations, however, the exact final price has not been disclosed.

Jack Quinn of QUINN PROPERTY described the new home owner as an “overseas purchaser”. Mr Quinn also said this “once in a lifetime” property had garnered a lot of interest from a mixture of different parties including local people, people from Dublin and people abroad.

The property enjoys views over the surrounding countryside and Tara Hill and it also comes with a coach house, additional guest accommodation and an extensive range of outbuildings.
