View of the lands of the 160-acre farm for auction near Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow

The very rare commodity of a large working farm, complete with a quality residence, will surely draw a considerable quantity of suitors.

The farm, a 160-acre holding in the townland of Cornan, near Baltinglass, Co Wicklow, is scheduled for online auction on May 14.

“The property is in a picturesque part of west Wicklow,” said selling agent David Quinn of Gorey-based auctioneers QUINN PROPERTY. “It’s 2km from Rathdangan village, where there’s a shop, school and church.”

Baltinglass is 12km to the east and Aughrim is 18km away and the property is only 40 minutes away from Dublin City.

The holding is divided by the public road. The farmhouse, sheds, and outbuildings are on the western side of the road on approximately 43 acres. On the other side lie the remaining 117 acres of land.

The lands are currently all in pasture and benefit from both a piped and a natural water supply. It has been farmed under a dairy system with internal roadways and electric fencing.

The farmhouse is a traditional stone property that has been extended in recent years. It is in excellent condition throughout.

“It has two separate entrances,” says David. “And it’s laid out in a manner that would allow for a main residential area and a second area that could be used for conversion to a holiday let or a granny flat.”

There is an extensive range of outbuildings and yards. These include a dairy, milking parlour (with 12-unit Dairy Master milking unit and Dairy Master auto feeders), loft, cattle crush, cubicle sheds (with 42 cubicles), three slatted sheds, two calving boxes, an isolation pen, 10t tower meal bin, nine-bay cubicle shed with feeding troughs and auto scrapers, concrete yard with open silage wall, 4-bay free-standing shed, above-ground slurry storage, workshop, pumphouse and garage.

The farm will be presented in the following lots:

Lot 1 (residence, farmhouse and outbuildings on 43.6 acres); Lot 2 (75.9 acres); Lot 3 (41.1 acres); Lot 4 (entire holding).

The overall price guide is a realistic €1,500,000.
